UTB inks MoU with satellite partner to KIGS

By : Mohd Hassanal Sirazroynie Bin Harethfardilah (Author)
Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four local education institutions – its ‘satellite partners’. They are Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS), Kemuda Institute (KI), Micronet International College (MIC) and Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology (CCCT). Present as witness was Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB. In her welcoming remarks, Dr Hajah Noor Maya binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of UTB explained that the MoU serves as a general framework for the establishment of cooperation between UTB and satellite partners through the delivery of foundation programmes in business, computing and sciences. As a local institution, UTB is committed to ensure Bruneians have access to higher education and thus a pathway is created known as the ‘UTB-SP Foundation Programme’, she added. The UTB-SP Foundation Programme supports the Brunei Vision 2035 by providing more education opportunities. It will require eligible students to undergo a one-year (two semesters) study where they will need to complete nine-10 modules before they can progress to UTB’s Year 1 or Year 2. Representing the college was the Acting Chief Executive Officer of KIGS, Pengiran Haji Mohd Rahimin bin Pengiran Setia Jaya Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin.
